The Board of Selectman voting to return Mr. St. John’s picture back on the wall of Fire HQ was the wrong decision. It was disrespectful to the volunteer firefighters who voted to take the picture down. There were a boat-load of reasons why members voted to remove the picture and all of them were ignored by the Board of Selectman.
Mr. St. John as Chief of the Department put the picture up when he was Chief. How is it that this one act of a former Chief supersedes the votes of an entire membership of volunteers. The decision seeks to undermine the MVFD INC. structure, where unlike the fireground, decisions are made in a democratic manner. If the volunteers do not have a right to take a picture down, how was it that Chief St. John had the right to put it up in the first place?

It is nothing but a big game with the BOS. You think they would be working on turning our town around instead they play baby games over a picture. The guys did not want the picture up, end of story leave it be!!!
What a shame that the wonderful MVFD is again and again falling into traps set by the evil Doctor St John and his cronies. Every bit of recent press is bad press for the MVFD.
The real shame is that the MVFD has built up years and years of good will with all of the community service and community benefits to Middlebury. Those things would make any town proud, but they now go unnoticed because of the distractions.
Doctor St. John is successfully deflecting the klieg lights away from his disgraceful behavior on the sex charges and the Washington Drive fiasco and his other failures. Those things NEVER get in the paper any more. Instead the MVFD falls for the bait and finds yet another reason to get the wrong kind of attention.
Don't blame ALL the selectmen!!! Tom is a good (but naive) guy and Bob is a good guy. They were trapped as well. Elaine is a grand stander with her own agenda.

Tom is a great guy and so is Bob but they could have voted Elaine down in alot of things, they did not, Bob was the one that 2nd her vote on Monday night. And when it came to putting Kellieann on the BOF didn't Tom 2nd that. Right there they could of WON and not let DR.St jerk win.... no back bone for the town!
Don't forget that Dr. St. John removed all the pictures of all former First Selectman when he came to power. Were was the outrage from the Chairman of the Public Works Commission?
