Politics And Pumpers

“Perrotti is now leading an effort to secure a new pumper truck for the department, something he has fought for since 2002.

Just as we thought: the pumper truck is a political need not a TOWN NEED . Paul needs the pumper to get re-elected. The town doesn't need it.”

Mr. DeAngelis again seems to exhibit an absolute lack of understanding of the fire protection needs of this community, and once again promoting the political and arrogant agenda of the previous administration.

Chief Perrotti has been leading the effort to purchase a new pumper since 2002. Where has Mr. DeAngelis been? Apparatus replacement schedules vary throughout the country, but nowhere is it considered safe to be running  20 year-old apparatus as your frontline pumper. Click Here.

To suggest that Chief Perrotti somehow is trying to secure a new pumper in some way to help his re-election, is simply moronic.

Replacing the pumper is entirely a “Town Need” and Mr. DeAngelis is attempting to stand in the way of firefighter and public safety by publishing his distorted letters to the editor, and on his website.

And you know this because of your extensive experience down at the fire department? Or are you just hearing echoes of DeAngelis's bullshit because your head is crammed so far up his ass?

Speaking of one man shows, here's an idea. When we make the Doctor First Selectman again, we can make him Fire Chief, too. If history has taught us anything, it's that when you are your own boss, you get to do whatever the hell you want! When the P.h.d. is wearing both hats (1st Selec./fire chief) that means he can buy all the fire 'trucks' he wants. The only drawback is that they will be green with yellow pinstripes.
It's funny how this town quietly amassed enough heavy equipment to make a constuction company blush and nobody said boo. The irony here is when your crappy old fire truck breaks down en route to an emergency, it will be stranded on the side of some beautifully paved roads...
