Don't Worry About Lawsuits ... We Have Insurance.

“You can sue all you want, the town has insurance.

and besides read the CT Law, you assume part risk by being a VOLUNTEER ! You don't get paid for this.”

We don’t need to protect the safety of our volunteers, because the Town has insurance.   As long as we have great insurance, and great lawyers, the lives of our volunteers are expendable.  Brilliant!

You don’t need to lecture the MVFD about risk.  They know all about risk and danger. Our volunteers do what they do because they have character, and they are willing to put themselves in dangerous situations, because of their genuine concern of the well-being of their fellow man. The truth is that these guys are heros and you cannot take that away from them. They should be provided with the equipment to help insure their safety as well as the safety of our residents.  That is something we should all be fighting for.

well it seems like the VOLUNTEERS of this town are anxious to sue.
Gee don't firefighters run into burning buildings ? if you don't want to assume that risk, then don't do it. Simple.

I am not a firefighter, I am a wife of one. The way I look at it is that pattie boy thinks this is a game to "try to get chief Perrotti" because the dr. said so, well it's my husbands life you are playing with. It's no game to me, you mr. pat are a very SICK person!! These are volunteers with familys that risk there lives every time they go out on a call, so you see if something happens to my husband you better run and don't look back. I will sue the town and let people know how you are behind all of this, and you know the dr. we let you take the fall and he will wash this hands claen of you!!!

Please keep cool, folks.

A very small number of losers has nothing better to do than to stir up trouble where there is no trouble.

Deangelis is a loser.

Doctor Engineer Edward B. St. John (who refers to himself in the third person) is a loser.

Anyone who follows these losers (Heidkamp, Mattson, Strobel, Wilson, MRTC) really should see a psychiatrist. Do they have any idea of the cancer they're spreading through the town?

Honest to god! Please! Find something else to do! Find anything else to do!

Roll up your sleeves, folks! Do something to help this town! Why not volunteer your time and help someone???

How can you face yourselves in the morning?

hey folks.......news alert !!!

If you don't want to run into burning buildings (and assume some risk) then don't be a fire man/girl waitin' to sue if YOU get hurt.

November 4th, isn't that the court date for the two sign thiefs Laurie Mattson and Polly Wilson. May be the Judge will send them on a little vacation together to the Niantic Women's Prison. I wonder if they have a sign making shop there. After all, they do have a lot of experience in the sign business!

This has nothing to do with the normal risks of being a firefighter, but has everything to do with the Town's liability if the equipment fails, causing injury or death to a firefighter, or resident.

The MVFD has made it clear, that using a 20 year old engine as a frontline pumper is not safe. and National NFPA Standards back this up. Engine 3 does not even have proper seat belts installed.

The Town is increasing its liability and the potential of serious failure each an everyday that goes by. It takes approximately 1 year to build a fire engine, so even if the engine is order in November, it would take several months to be built.

So much for the 1st amendment, I guess if you disagree you delete. Hmmmm, maybe you really aren't interested in the truth?

Last time I looked there were 12 comments, now there are nine? I guess it could be system related.

Check with Perrotti for your 1st amendment rights, he runs this blog and posts what he wants.

Well that would make sense then.

Seems the First Amendment was one of the issues about 30 years ago too.

Forgot about the MVFD denial factor.

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Seems to me as if this blog is the only place in Middlebury where these issues can be discussed. You are posting your comments and they are still there.

If I remember correctly, the comments that "disappeared" were libelous personal attacks.

If those libelous personal attacks were yours then please re-post them. Why not be a man and post your name too.

OK, well here is one:

Wow! reminds me of about 30 years ago when Janusaitus was pointing the same things out. I guess the MVFD is still just as dense. Would have thought they learned something last time. You can't escape you are a governmental entity. Step up and be transparent.

Didn't keep a copy of the other, didn't think I had to.

As far as libelous, I kind of doubt it, but that's my perspective.

Oh, and by the way, if you want people to put identification with their postings, eliminate the "Anonymous" option.

Whole different set of issues. The Janusaitis deal was entirely different. The funny thing is this: Who was Chief of MVFD then? Why, I believe it was ESTJ himself!!! It was ESTJ who incorporated the MVFD, during his tenure there. Funny, but Ken Heidkamp was right in the middle of that controversy, just like he is in the thick of it now. I even believe that ESTJ threw him out of the MVFD. Talk about not learning from mistakes..... Fascinating.
