“Does the Middlebury Police force have two different standards for
arresting people?
Two local women were arrested for "stealing" two crummy lawn signs
BASED ON AN ALLEGATION OF A POLICE DEPT EMPLOYEE. However
when a woman alleged that she was harassed and screamed at by a man
who's political views are more in line with the first selectman, the man, to our
knowledge he was not arrested.”
After reading the posting yesterday by “Time Machine” I could not help but wonder if Mr. DeAngelis even writes his website anymore. Does he have a ghost writer filling in for him now?
When Mr. DeAngelis wrote back in 2005, his tone and demeanor were so completely different. His main attack was on Ed St. John, Jim Smith, Elaine Strobel, and the entire RTC. What the heck happened? At what point did he drink the proverbial St. John kool-aid?
Now Mr. DeAngelis is targeting our great Police Department and is questioning whether they operate with some sort of double-standard. I think its the same standard. They arrest people who break the law and don’t arrest people who don’t. It’s as simple as that. They also can see through lies and distortions, and measure the credibility of witnesses.
If you were to believe Mr. DeAngelis you would think that Middlebury is a town in chaos, spinning out of control from a corrupt BOS (except Elaine), BOF, Police Department, and of course Fire Department. In the same breath he champions the causes of the past administration who appears to have caused many of the problems Middlebury faces today. He also seems to ignore what he said about these same people in 2005. (Read “Time Machine’s” postings.)
Credibility of the PD and the MVFD is in question, but who is questioning the credibility of the person who admitted lying about his education, who appears to have cost the Town almost a million dollars, and now wants to return to his position? Why is that?
Mr. DeAngelis also believes that the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department is somehow duping the Town into purchasing a new Pumper. This was something Mr. St. John and Mrs. Strobel should have accomplished back in 2003, but chose politics ahead of public and firefighter safety.
Mr. DeAngelis characterizes the fire apparatus purchase as some sort of toy for a juvenile firefighters. A shiny engine to delight a selfish group who cares little about the taxpayers.
Contrary to what Mr. DeAngelis may believe, the MVFD cares a great deal about the residents in this community, and proves that on a daily basis. It has been stated here many times. The engine is for the community, not for the firefighters. The very existence of the Fire Department is for the community.
Kurt Vonnegut put it the best when he said, “I can think of no more stirring symbol of man's humanity to man than a fire engine.”

so is it true that the fire dept doesn't want the 2nd half of the budget to go to a vote, but instead have a "town meeting" ? if the people vote at the voting booth, they might say no ?
It's not the fire dept. that wants the meeting!! The fire dept. just wants the new apparatus that they have been waiting on since 2002. The fire dept. is only looking at the safety point of view, we need new apparatus before someone gets hurt or we have a repeat of waterbury!!!!!!
There is no politics in getting this pumper. They need it. The town needs it. The last time we bought an engine was 14 years ago.
well then have the people vote on it.
who ever said it was the Fire dept that wanted a town meeting. They have not had any part in that process. You have to go up the hill for that one.
they (leader at mVfd) pulled the new truck out of the budget to make it look like a 3% decrease but instead will place the new truck funds on 2nd half of budget to be "voted" on at town meeting (stacked by supporters)
I Guess you don't know who asked him to bring the trucks up there then. So much for you knowing everything. The chief did not act by himself on this one.
The taxpayers will have an oppurtunity at the Oct. 29 "town meeting" to voice their opinion and then vote on purchasing the badly needed fire engine. Most of the funds needed for the purchase are in the current budget. However, the relatively small short fall of funds can be provided from other unassigned funds in the budget.
If the same commitment process was used by StJohn on the Washington Drive Project First Selectman Gromley might not have inherited the $1,000,000 mess left by the previous administration. Thank you Ed, we will never forget!
This truck was since 2002 when the great dr. was in, he than played a little game because thing couldn't go his way and the chief wouldn't lie for him!!!!!!!! So keep listening to the jerk on white ave. and you too will screw up your stories!!!!! Get the facts straight before you open your mouth, it's a safety issue, not something to play around with!!! We as a town need this apparatus very, very bad!!!!! This is a serious problem, it's not a game. Pat and ed are fooling around with peoples lives!!!!
whose playing a game ??
looks like the leader of mVfd is. They pulled the funds for this new truck so it would look like 3% DECREASE in the town budget when in essence the 2nd part of the budget will be INCREASE. Stop being sneaky and voting for this under the taxpayers noses. Gee let me guess....the entire fire dept (trucks and personnel) will be there for "town meeting".
God help anyone who speaks against it. They will be tared, feathered and spit on.
How does the fire chief Play with a town budget. You obviously have no clue how a town budget is run. Your ignorance is making you look really stupid buddy.
No the problem is the nay sayers never come out. They sit behind their computer and bitch all the time. Maybe you don't come out of your shit hole house cause youknow that no one is following you anymore. Assholes are Assholes for a reason. Come out Pat wherever you because its not just the Fire Dept that hates you.
The only ones that need to be TARED,FEATHERED,AND SPIT on are stodel, stjohn and the jerk on white ave. Why aren't eddie boy and pattie going to town meetings and showing thier faces around town?? What are they scared of????
