“Elections for a new Fire Chief are coming up in November. We think that a new Chief would open up a new era of non-political, friendly relations between the town and this wonderful organization
We're certain that so many FOI and other problems could be resolved with a citizen friendly Chief at the FIREHOUSE
Please Vote in this Straw Poll:
Do you feel Paul Perrotti should be replaced as Fire Chief YES or NO

Mr. DeAngelis has it exactly opposite. The Fire Department is currently enjoying a good working relationship with Tom Gormley and Bob Desmarais. Plans are on their way to replace a 27 year old pumper, something that Mr. St. John nor Elaine Strobel were able to do. This is not a victory for the MVFD, but rather a victory for the community. Public safety finally put ahead of politics.
What Mr. DeAngelis does not understand is that no matter who is Chief of the Department, the outcome would be the same. Mr. DeAngelis would not be entitled to any financial information regarding the Inc. side of the MVFD.
Even if tomorrow Paul Perrotti wanted to release all documents of the MVFD INC, he couldn’t. The Chief is the one in charge on the fireground, but on the Inc. side of the Department he is only a single voice, with no more clout than anyone else. In fact, the Chief does not even vote, unless to break a tie.
No one at the MVFD cares about Mr. DeAngelis’s opinion as to the election of Chief this November. The membership will vote for Chief as they do every two years. If you want to vote for Chief, you need to join the Fire Department.
Mr. DeAngelis’s fake poll will be as accurate as his website. If he wants to conduct a poll, why doesn’t he get a real blog.
But, feel free to send him an e-mail. I am sure he would be glad to hear from you.

well how long has Perrotti been chief ? Hasn't he been there to long. EST was selectmen for too long also, 20 something years. There should be term limits. Give someone else a chance
Ed was selectman for 24 years and paul has been chief for 12 years.
Ed's background, admited he lied about his education, did town projects without following proper bidding procedures, had pictures of kid painting his toenails on the news, left work early to go tanning, and was rarely found at the town hall.
Paul Perrotti's background, numerous state certifications for firefighters (including fire officer classes etc), a long track record of successful leadership, and is always at the firehouse every day of the week. He is a very dedicated chief, whose heart and soul is built into the well being of the department. No task is beneath him, whether it is running a fire, or mopping the floor at the firehouse. Paul is a trustworthy man, and an outstanding leader.
Long story short, I support Chief Perrotti in November for chief, and to compare Ed and Paul is a contest in comparing apples and oranges.
12 years is to long. Are there term limits in MVFD ?
Give someone else a chance, train new people.
So Paul will be chief till he dies ?
Maybe he will be chief till he dies!!!! Tell me one other person that could do half his job!!? He has my VOTE!!!!!!!
wow, so Perriotti is God like within the MVFD ?
think you guys been smellin to much smoke.
How long was Dr. St. John Chief of the MVFD? Do any of you Johnny come lately's know? I'll wait for your answer...
Here's a question that will provide an answer to the matter of trust.
Who would you trust to babysit your young children? Check one.
( ) Ed
( ) Paul
Let's be honest about that.
And another thing. Just because a person was not convicted of a crime does not mean that he is innocent. Hell no. It just means that there was not enough evidence to convict him.
answer to previous question: neither
The audit comes out about St. John screwing Middlebury taxpayers and all of the sudden the conversation is around Perrotti. So typical of Deangelis. Ed screws up, its Perrotti's fault. Perrotti does more for this town in one week than Deangelis has done in his entire lifetime. St. John screws up and he wants to run again and screw us all some more. It won't be easy this time Ed.
When ever things do not go little patties or eddie boys way they seem to put the fault on Paul. Did you people ever stop to thing of why they do not like Paul...... could it be because Paul wouldn't lie for them and Paul played by the books. You see if you do not do what they want, you become marked!!!!!! Paul is doing his job and doing it the RIGHT WAY and the two jerks are mad!!!!! Face it people eddie boy used OUR TAX Dollars like they were his own. He didn't care about us, he only cared about the name he was giving himself! The dr will have a hard time getting himeself out of this mess. He's the one that messed up the town so damn bad!!!!!!
Not only will I vote For Edward B. St'john (not a typo)for first selectman, I'm going to make him the Fire Chief again. Guess what? That's right, Public Works Director, too. And Police Chief. And Director of the Health Department ( he is a doctor) so he can check all the junior firemen for hernias...
Don't ya think if the MVFD gets public funds, then the public should be allowed to vote who the chief is ?
"Don't ya think if the MVFD gets public funds, then the public should be allowed to vote who the chief is ?"
I don't remember being allowed to vote for Police Chief, or Public Works Director, or Park & Rec Director. They all use public money, some of them far more than the MVFD. I'm all for this suggestion........The general public has NO input on these postitions, nor should they. Every one of these positions is filled through a competitive process, just as the Fire Chief is. All I can say is, get over yourself. The MVFD has a long track record of electing competent Fire Chiefs, and removing them when the time for change came. Which is more than I can say for the "experts" who select the leaders of other town departments, like PW, with the previous long-serving director before Dan Norton.
