A Message From "A Friend"

If there was ever a reason to continue your blog, it is reflected in the following quote:

"It should be the highest ambition of every American to extend his views beyond himself, and to bear in mind that his conduct will not only affect himself, his country, and his immediate posterity; but that its influence may be co-extensive with the world, and stamp political happiness or misery on ages yet unborn."

—George Washington, letter to the Legislature of Pennsylvania, September 5, 1789

I think it fits in quite well with ole George's quote, dont you?

Enjoy!

its sad that newspaper in hartford can summerise Middlebury to a tee while other local papers like the Waterbury Republican get involved in the bulls...

thats real reporting

P.S. and people want Ed St. John to run again. This guy should make like a mouse and hide in a wall

It has become blatantly obvious that Matt O'Rourke has been given strict marching orders from Mr. Pape.

Not a negative word can ever be reported about Ed St. John. Not a whit of investigative reporting about any of the "elephants in the room". Not a word about the strange bedfellows on the MRTC.

What we get instead is biased reporting about Gormley and Perrotti that puts the emphasis on negatives. We've gotten a dozen blurbs about Pattie and OMP but not a mention of this blog for counterpoint.

It almost makes me think that Pat Deangelis is sitting in the editor's chair. Except that Pattie is way too illiterate to have any job requiring writing skills.

It's been awfully quite on White Ave...

Kudos to this blog for not responding to every stupid posting on OMP. Idiot Pattie has nothing new to report so he's trying to take credit for the sun coming up in the morning.

Middlebury needs to get its town expenses under control and provide for maintenance and future predictable capital expenses. We need to settle the lawsuits and get back the money that Eddie misappropriated. Let's never forget that Eddie gave us the Straw Pond fiasco. Tommy voted it down in the Conservation Commission. It wasn't Tommy. It was Eddie.

Just over the horizon is the huge increase in Region 15 expenses that we'll have next year. Middlebury cannot reduce its town expenses enough to offset the million dollar school increase. It will be huge. Much more than a million dollars.

Tommy will have his hands full with this Region 15 mess. This is a great time for Kelli to show some leadership on the Board of Finance, even as an alternate. She talked tough in 2005 and had good ideas. Let's put he in the drivers seat and see if she can handle this runaway train.

You won't find this in OMP

First Selectman Tom Gormley told Voices on Friday, November 14, that due to Middlebury Land Associates lack of presence, the American Arbitration Association mediator found in favor of the town on the Edward St. John misappropriation matter.

Read Article

Eddie is in bigtrouble now and Pattie will not put it in his headlines. Tommy can haul Eddie in to court now and not jeopardise anything. Maybe Steve Savarese is not so stupid as Pattie says.

Go ahead Pattie, blow as much smoke as you want. Eddie is still going to court!!!

Deangelis Distortion Detector

Notice this in the Voices article:

"At a Wednesday, November 12, referendum, the town agreed to ratify the August 2006 agreement between developer Middlebury Land Associates, LLC, and the town, on the advice of Town Counsel Stephen Savarese."

The word used was ratify not approve as Deangelis put it on his web site in giddy 40 point purple headlines. Eddie was not exonerated as Pattie proclaimed with more lies. Nope! Eddie was hardly exonerated. What happened was that Tommy can tell the town lawyers to haul Eddie in to court.

Tommy has the balls, Pattie!

Eddie's going to court again!

Deangelis Distortion Detector

Pattie updated his web site with stale rehashes of stale lies. The only new item was this ridiculous phrase:

..we feel sorry for the poor
bastard that takes over from Gormley in 2009...there won't be any money, and we'll owe all kinds of money for ridiculous projects.

Apparently Pattie is starting up a new chant that he'll repeat over and over. He's trying to make it appear as if Tommy, in one year, has created all the financial problems of Middlebury.

Hello! All Pattie needs to do is look at his own web site from 2005 and 2006 to see the contradiction. He accused St. John and Strobel of exactly the same thing. Pattie applauded Kelli Bollard when she pissed away the rainy day fund.

Hey Pattie - it's a torrential downpour now with this economy and Tommy's the only person trying to put up an umbrella. Keep on lying. Nobody with a brain will believe you.

Pattie Switches Loyalties on a Dime

Here's an OMP blurb from last year:

"Tom Gormley was put in a difficult position in 2004, 2005, and 2006: As Chairman of the Conservation Commission he had to carefully adhere to the state statutes, be fair to developers that wanted to build at Straw Pond and yet he needed to heed the fears of the people in the town of Middlebury as regarded the matter of the Residences of Straw Pond.

Mr. Gormley , at times, had to suppress the enthusiasm of the people speaking against the Residents of Straw Pond Project and at the same time he had to allow the developer to speak freely at all meetings so that the rights guaranteed to the builders were respected.

During that three-year period, ever mindful of lawsuits, the feeling of the townspeople and the fairness of the process Mr. Gormley did an outstanding job. He has served the town well in the Battle of Straw Pond as he has done in every town project he assists. Even though some of us may have disagreed with him at times no one has ever doubted that he is a man of integrity and spirit who cares deeply for this town.

His enemies say that he is a “puppet” for Mr. St. John. Not true, those enemies also told lies about Ralph Carpinella, R. Bona, Neil Perrotti and others during the last election. They were liars then as they are now. Tom Gormley is not a perfect man but if there is one thing he is not, it’s a “puppet’. He is his own man.

It’s time for the town to get back on track, to get back to a time when we all spoke civilly to each other and things flowed in harmony. Tom Gormley will get us back."

------------------------------------------------

Today Eddie is good and Gormley is bad. What could possibly have changed Pattie's mind?

Could it be Satan?

Who is St. John's puppet now?

Could it be Pattie? Yes it can.

Pattie Hated Them All Back In July 2005

Two challengers to oust Dr. St. John and Strobel. With them will go the enormous legal bills the town currently pays.

A family affair on the Republican Town Committee: Jim Smith sits on a commitee that nominated his partner's husband for a commission seat.. F. Brenan's son was nominated for the same commission by a committe Brennan serves. Ron Clark was nominated by a committee his wife serves. Dana D'Angelo, the Town Attorney, serves as campaign treasurer for the man who hires her and Jim Smith...George Moreira-D'Angelo husband of Dana D'Angelo was nominated by his wife's partner's committee.... Erikka Carrinton, Repubican town committee member, Planning and Zoning member got a paying job in the Assessor's office on a part-time basis. John Calabrese, a Republican town committee member gets paid to be town treasurer and for "consutlting" work.....Hmmm. It's good to be a member of the Republican Town Committee."

Today he loves 'em.

What changed?

Is Pattie a puppet in 2008?

I think so!

OMP November 10, 2005

"If St. John had not put in the sewer and water lines we would not be getting low income housing down by Regan Rd.
True or False?

Ed's Zoning Commission approved Straw Pond when it contained over 300 houses.

They approved over 300 houses at the DeSantis project.

They approved 125 houses at Brookside.

They approved 75 houses at Avalon Farms.

Let's get back to all that low income, affordable housing that Ed's sewers and water lines are bringing into Middlebury.

All you people on Regan Rd. , Yale Ave., White Ave,HERE

The town (Ed St. John) agreed to a Forrest Walk deal: if they drop their cases the town will accept their application to hook up to our water and sewer. Don't believe it? Look at the current minutes of the WPCA.

Middlebury is being raped by greedy developers and willing local politicians. Over 1000 houses are on the drawing boards here in Middlebury at the present time.
These planned houses will destroy the natural beauty that led us to this town to begin with.

How is this happening? Our Selectmen sign deals to sell town land at discount prices, whlle our Zoning Bd. grants sweeping zoning exemptions to developers who look at reaping millions of dollars of profit and then leaving Middlebury under cover of the dust they have created. To date only the Conservation Committee has had the courage to stand up to the developers and the Selectmen."

Today, in 2008, Pattie loves Eddie

Today, in 2008, Pattie blames Gormley

Who is the puppet?

Today, in 2008, Pattie is the puppet

Thank you, Time Machine. Middlebury has a bad case of collective amnesia. What could have caused Mr. Monkey Pit to change his tune? He certainly was on the right track with all the nepotism and inbreeding associated with committies and plum posistions. What this town needs is a good political enema. Time for some roughage...

Deangelis Distortion Detector

Back on November 10, 2005 Pattie proclaimed in the time machine snippet above that only Gormley had the courage to stand up to developers.

Today the lying Deangelis turns it all around. Here's what he said today:

"Giving away sewer capacity to places like Straw Pond and Forest Walk practically ensures that there is nothing left for commercial development.

The above fact is what people like Savawrong and Gormley don't understand. They see short term solutions such as "the sky is falling, give away our land and our sewer capacity". If you give the equivalent of 1000 unit sewer capacity to residential developers then what do you have left when commercial developers want to come into town. 'Nothing' is what you have left. Nothing"

Pattie thinks that making up cutesy terms like "Savawrong" will bring applause from the kool aid drinkers. Maybe it will. But most people in Middlebury have brains and long term memories. They know damn well that St. John caused the mess. Gormley is cleaning up the mess.

The reason Gormley needs lawyers is because Eddie created a legal nightmare. It is not Tommy's fault that Eddie put Middlebury in a quagmire. It is Eddie's fault that Eddie put us in a quagmire. Even a White Avenue resident could understand that (except Laurie, of course). Good thing for Pattie and Eddie that there are so many brainwashed lemmings available.
