This blog is not dead. Just taking a bit of a vacation. It will return. I care too much about what happens to this Town to turn the switch off. Stay tuned.

Middlebury's Only True Blog of Middlebury News. There is nothing like the truth. Lies and distortions are not productive and not fair to those who unselfishly serve this town 24 hours a day. This includes Police, Fire, Commissions, Board Of Selectmen, and all others who volunteer their time. We encourage people to post whether we agree with you or not. When they stop telling lies about us, we will stop telling the truth about them. Adlai E. Stevenson.

Thank you for this blog. I had no idea that the First Selectman was facing the political problems that are openly discussed here. I've been reading this blog to find the news that would never appear in the print newspaper.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you Jim for this blog. I am a town employee. I'd like the blog to keep watching the politics that involve Tom Gormley. Gormley started off badly and lost a lot of respect around town hall. He promised to meet with the town staff but didn't keep that promise. He doesn't go around and talk to anybody. He should have fired a couple of rats on his payroll who undermined him. They are still here and always bad mouthing him. Tom needs to get rid of Steve Savarese and make his own decisions.
Tom is a good guy and has the best interests of Middlebury in his heart. I think he is paranoid because everybody abandoned him. Everybody is afraid that St. John will come back. Everybody is gun shy and afraid to help Tom and Tom does not ask anybody for help.
I would like Tom to succeed. He could be great if he gets a little more support. Please keep an eye on his enemies.
Tom was sabotaged on day one.
Proposed Gormley re-election campaign slogan: "At least I didn't molest your kids".
ummm, excuse me.
I think the judge showed/showed that molest charged was false.
we can only assume based on who filed the claim that it was all political.
Not quite the ruling
Rather, "The court found that Mr. Perrotti failed to prove the allegations of his complaint."
See Voices for a longer explanation. The ruling is the last sentence in that article.
Also see Hartford Advocate for additional information on what "the doctor" was doing with those junior firemen back in the day.
Lots and lots of testimony in this case. Eddie was remembered by many people as behaving strangely back then. They cannot all be liars. On the other hand...
Litany of Lies
By the way, the Hartford Advocate article was written by Dan D'Ambrosio who was the Middlebury reporter for the Republican-American. Dan had a chance to interview many locals for this story, just to make that clear. Dan did not dream up that article with one court session. He had more than a year to work the Middlebury beat back in 2006-2007.
D'Ambrosio reported that one of the attorneys led St. John through a "litany of lies" the First Selectman had told during his long public career. No, he did not have a Ph.D. No, he had not served in the military in Europe and the Middle East. No, he did not attend Brown University. No, he was not a civil engineer. No, he didn’t do post-graduate studies at the University of Maryland.
Who's the liar? We've heard the quip many times in Middlebury:
"How do you know when St. John is lying?"
"His mouth is moving."
Not a joke. Reality.
Pattie is rating the First Selectman candidates on his web site. He hasn't gotten to the most likely one which is Bill Stowell running with either Elaine Strobel or Erika Carrington.
Let's assume that the MRTC endorses "Stowell / Carrington 2009".
What would their platform be? What list of accomplishments and promises could be made for them that would be superior to Tom Gormley's record?
I don't see Middlebury buying it. I think the MRTC cronyism would be blatantly obvious.
The Deangelis spinning begins
Pattie starts by distorting the blame. Read this lie: ... clean up the mess left by Gormley, Savarese and Dayton.
Then he endorses St. John:
What can we say about Ed that hasn't been said? We ourselves have sued, cajoled , yelled at and cursed Ed at various times. However when you compare what he accomplished with what these numb-nuts presently in office are doing now, how can you not consider Ed a
favorite in the upcoming race? Based on what he has done in the past and his knowledge of government we would have to rate him a solid...
We can expect Pattie to continue the distortion of blaming everything that is wrong in Middlebury on one year of Tom Gormley's term. Pattie glosses over every single criticism that he made against Eddie and his cronies since Campaign 2005.
Eddie did not suddenly become good. Pattie sold out. Pattie sold out big time and it really shows. It's gonna take a lot of kool aid to put Eddie or his crony Stowell in office next year.
Spin! Spin! Spin! Drink your kool-aid!
What Flavor Kool-Aid is it
At the Monday meeting of the RTC a motion was made and passed citing that no individual could be named to the RTC provided that person
“Should attain at least an 8th. Grade proficiency in spelling,
grammar and logic.”
The motion passed unanimously.
At least we don't have to worry about Patty or any of his idiot "anonymous" supporters making it to the RTC (based on his website and their postings).
Biggest Deangelis Lie
In a ridiculous list of criticisms of Tom Gormley, Pattie includes this outrageous lie:
"Wasted more than 15 grand on a "forensic" audit that did nothing....."
Even the Cherry Kool-Aid drinkers know that Eddie (1) violated the charter (2) told lies about Straw Pond (3) had outrageous legal fees. Even the most brainwashed White Avenue zombie knows that Eddie's malfeasance cost Middlebury as much as $950,000 -- or possibly more if you count legal fees.
It is an outright lie for Pattie to say that the $15,000 for the audit was wasted. Every newspaper in Pattie's list of great newspapers reported that the audit accurately uncovered the crime that Eddie committed. The audit allowed Tom Gormley to take corrective action at a town meeting to ratify Eddie's illegal action. Now, due to Tom's smart action, Middlebury has a prayer of recovering some or all of what Eddie wasted.
Pat Deangelis is a liar
Get a life READER, your bias is showing.
I read the transcripts of the lawsuit against Ed, being emailed around. You don't have to be a fan of Ed to know that the only one who lied was the one who sued Ed. As for his claimed molestation, his 2 friends (to this day), who were there when the claimed molestation supposedly happened, said it didn't happen.
So, I guess based on your definition, if he lied about that, he must be a molester. In fact, I've come across a lot of liars in my days, I guess they are all molesters too. Better hide your lies reader, or you might be sued for molestation.
I guess your bias shows through when you back your trustworthy friend Dr. Edward B. St. John PHD.
This is my reply to the first "Anonymous" who defended Eddie.
First of all, a big Thank You to Jim Redway for moderating this blog. Jim allows people to comment on the statements made by other bloggers. Anyone who reads this blog can form an opinion and determine if someone is a windbag or is providing useful information.
I want you to look at what Mr. First Anonymous said about my posting. He twisted his criticism to make it sound that I had accused Eddie of molestation and then he provided a counter-argument to that false claim. The casual reader might think that Mr. First Anonymous had corrected my slanderous comment and provided you with truth.
But go back and read what I wrote in two postings. I called Eddie a liar not a molester. Mr. "holier than thou", "get a life" First Anonymous twisted things. I do not know if Eddie was a molester or not. The court did not find enough evidence either.
But - Eddie is a liar. That is unarguable. Eddie is a liar. Everybody in Middlebury knows it. Edward B. St. John is a liar.
Mr. First Anonymous is a liar as well. Maybe I'll soften that accusation a bit. He distorts his statements so that you might believe something other than the truth. Hmmm... No, I take it back. Mr. First Anonymous is a liar.
Tell me I'm wrong about that
I'd say that the "kiss of death" would be to get an endorsement from former First Selectman Edward B. St. John.
If Bill Stowell thinks that Eddie's endorsement will help.
Wrong.
How will the Republican Committee get rid of Gormley?
A couple of comments.
#1. Bill Stowell and Erika Carrington? Middlebury's own Bonnie and Clyde? Gimme' a break. These two have ruled the P&Z and done thier best to keep any type of tax-paying bussiness out of town. If these two come to power, Billy Perrotti better pack his bags and open a sno-cone stand in Siberia.
#2. Not everybody is gun-shy about the Doctor. Some of us look forward to having him in the public spotlight, where he can get it with both barrels.(figure of speech)
#3. Any way you slice it, The Doctor is an admitted liar. Period.
#4. Speaking of liars, the MRTC has zero credibility. "We support Tom"! Bullspit.
#5. Last but not least. As far as the trial goes, The doctor won, the victim lost. Get over it. Just let me ask you one question. Would you let your teen-aged son go on vacation alone with this guy? I wouldn't...
Patty Rowland should be on your radar, folks.
That is not a bad idea. Middlebury could have a dream ticket with Patty Rowland and Fran Brennan.
Think about it.
Gormley-Rowland 2009
I love how Patty tries to show what a kind, good-hearted person he is in his claim to not support the genocide that Thanksgiving represents towards the "Indians". First of all, I am of "Indian" blood and find his comments even more insulting than the holiday, itself. We are not Indians. We have never been to India, so therefore, we should not be labeled as such. We are Native Americans. Before you try to act so politically correct, maybe you should remove your head from your ass, first. Besides, Columbus day celebrates the beginning of the Native American Holocaust. Thanksgiving celebrates the taking advantage of the Native Americans by the White people. Moron. God, you make me sick.
Strange Bedfellows Alert
Maybe not so strange when you think about it. Tom Gormley never had friends with the Row B ticket. That assembly of losers turned on him five minutes after election day. But Tom seems to have a friend with former opponent Fran Brennan. Something is going on and it won't be good for Ed St. John, according to some rumors. Puppet master Brennan knows just as many tricks as Eddie and we hear that Brennan is already bored with retirement.
Look for some interesting announcements before year end 2009. Get your popcorn ready.
If Tom Gormley is pulling together an advisory team then I'd like to suggest that he ask Lou DeLuca and John Rowland to get on board. Combine these two with Fran Brennan and Tom might get some "kick ass" advice.
Dump Savarese. Kick Pattie's ass. Sue Eddie.
It doesn't take an advisory team to know what needs to be done.
Here's a clip from OMP back in the Campaign 2005 era when Eddie used to be evil.
Middlebury Recycling Program Now Accepting Broken and Discarded Dreams
—The Middlebury Public Works Dept. announced today that its recycling program will be expanded to include pickup and processing of the broken and discarded dreams of Middlebury residents.
"It's a breakthrough," said Public Works Director/First Selectman/Tree Warden/Surgeon, Ed St. John. "Our three-part program to reduce, reuse and recycle the dashed hopes of some 6000 middle-class Middleburians will finally give us a sensible way to manage an ever-increasing overflow of crushing suburban disillusionment."
Under the new system, dreams that are outdated or unreachable must be broken down into manageable rectangles, bundled with twine and set out on the curb next to glass or aluminum. The charge per item will be the same as for any other household garbage.
Dreams that have been shattered into hundreds or thousands of small pieces must be tightly bagged and marked with special industrial orange "FAILURE" stickers in order to ensure the protection of sanitation workers.
Further, in order to ensure the proper and efficient recycling of faded dreams, the town is asking citizens to separate dreams into clearly marked bundles of family, career and personal.
According to Elaine Stroebel, the new recycling program was developed in response to Middlebury's badly overflowing White Middle Class Landfill of Despair brought on by high taxes, overbuilding and a runaway school problems in Middlebury.
Under the new program, though recycling of dreams will be mandatory, exceptions will be made for those who have nothing else to hold onto. Residents with no other coping mechanism in their lives—no extramarital affairs, no obsessive shopping habits—will be excused from the recycling program if they should so request.
The preceeding clip is real, but obviously Pattie did not write it himself back in 2005. It was ghost written by someone who had more than a fourth grade education.
Isn't it amazing how the evil have become good in 2008? Today Pattie doesn't have a literate ghost writer. His poor writing habits and junior high school point of view are obvious. Today we have "half chiefs" to blame for our problems. I wonder who Pattie will blame tomorrow? Will Fran become good? Will Kelli become evil? Tune in. It's a soap opera in Middlebury with very poor writing.
Republican Town Committee Meets Tonight
Tuesday December 9th, 7:30PM
Shepardson Room 26
Any Republican can attend. Come to the meeting and see if Tom Gormley gets any positive acknowledgement for his announcement on the 2009 elections.
They should be backing him up.
What do you think are the odds on that?
Just wanted to note that Pattie seems to have been following this blog more closely than usual. Not just Pattie but also most of the MRTC members. Pattie obviously has a pipeline into the MRTC, but even he knows (and reports) that the real action is happening elsewhere. The traditional secret headquarters is the Calabrese offices out on Quassapaug Road. Pattie reports that there are other secret "star chamber" assemblies. That is very likely. I wonder if he knows more.
Tommy and Cookie attended the MRTC last night. They were the only non members to attend. Nobody should wonder why the MRTC keeps "appointing itself" as Pattie said back in 2005. The registered Republican apathy is appalling. Pattie outlined the committee positions becoming open next year. You know that "Row A' will be purged. Where is the new blood?
Selective Enforcement Alert!!!
I think Pattie and Eddie are getting nervous about Tommy. Pattie supposedly filed yet another SEEC complaint because Cookie put a few notices in the paper about forming an exploratory committee.
But wait a minute. Pattie has also reported on the secret MRTC "star chamber" that is working to get Eddie's puppets ready for a 2009 campaign. Shouldn't that committee also be the subject of a SEEC complaint?
What's the difference?
Would one of the kool-aiders please explain?
One more thing, folks.
Fran Brennan has been talking to a lot of people lately, and not about the weather. Fran is bored with retirement. No, he is not running for office. Supposedly he is solid behind Tommy as a way to get back at Eddie and all his enemies on Row B.
You heard it on this blog first.
Just what Middlebury needs. Another retired guy with too much time on his hands meddling in politics.
