Public safety is so much of a priority for the dedicated members of the MVFD, that they got together the other night and passed the hat once again for the safety of residents of Middlebury. The pumper is such an important issue at this time, that members pulled out their own wallets to help promote a favorable outcome on Question #4 on the referendum.
The signs that you will see around Town were paid out of the personal finances of the MVFD members. It is refreshing to see that the members of the MVFD are willing to invest their personal finances to promote the well-being of this community. A tradition since 1941, the MVFD has always looked out for the best interest of our residents.
This is a time where residents can return the favor. Help them, help you with this new pumper. Vote YES for Question #4.
Download and distribute their brochure at:

and may take a few minutes to download.

Nicely done.... now wait, I can hear it. The enter button is just about to be pushed. Read the rest in the most annoying voice you can imagine .................................................................................................
"If they care about the town so much why don't they pass the hat to buy the truck".
And there it is. Good news Pattie, we know what you are going to say so no need to waste your time. Simple people are a simple read - leave this space for folks with a constructive opinion.
so it looks like Paulie's wife was busy Friday at the printers.
who is paying for this ?
In Waterbury they are blessing their fire trucks.
In Middlebury, former altar boy Pat Deangelis thinks fire trucks should be cursed.
It is a shame that the volunteers of the MVFD need to take money from their pockets to promote a "no brainer" item in the referendum.
The brochure spells it out beautifully. The equipment needs to be replaced on a realistic replacement schedule. The town puts away enough each year for the replacements. Something like $50 per family per year for capital replacement of apparatus. Essentially peanuts in your tax bill.
What is really disturbing is the amount of effort that has been spend by people opposed to this, such as Deangelis. These same people have given a pass to former First Selectman Ed St. John who misappropriated $950,000 of taxpayer money. In any other town the energy would be spent on getting that $950,000 from St. John, not trying to torpedo the replacement of a 27 year old fire engine that is 3/4 paid for in capital reserves.
God bless the MVFD!
God forgive the misguided followers of Deangelis.
No, I am very sorry to tell you this but... it wasn't me, PAUL'S WIFE that went to the printers on Friday!! I do support the M.V.F.D. to the fullest, safety should and is the number one issue!! Like Pattie and his cool-aid so called friends,I have a house to clean and children to take care of,I don't spend my days politicking and to who is footing the bill??...I do not think that it is any of your business!! Start concentrating on the missing money from eddie boy and leave the M.V.F.D up to the professionals!!
Apparently some folks don't know how to read. It said clearly in the text above who paid for the signs etc. Of course it is more intriguing if it's a secret.
Its Saturday and there are firetrucks everywhere at the mfd, can't even find a place to park. And you want ANOTHER ?
please
Dear Ms. Anonymous,
Get your flab ass out of that oversized SUV and waddle over to the crafts fair and actually buy something to support our charitable causes.
We've got dozens of volunteers who have spent time and money to help your community. What the hell have you done except criticize those things you don't understand. We're trying to maintain the old fashioned values that make Middlebury a great place.
Pull the pastry out of your mouth, put down the cell phone, disconnect your iPod and say a prayer of thanks that the good men and women of the MVFD are there for self-centered people like you.
And keep away from the apple pie. I think you've had enough to eat for today.
Ingrate.
They must be having an antique fire "truck" show at the fire house 'cause I saw a s***load of old fire trucks parked outside...
There goes Perrotti again! Leaving the fire trucks outside in the rain to rust, and then claiming that they are worn out. I think the people of Middlebury will see what you are up to and vote no.
Interesting News!
A collector of antique vehicles was visiting Middlebury's Golden Age of Trucking Museum today. After leaving the museum he drove along Route 64 and noticed the activity at Tucker Hill.
The collector stopped and inspected the fire apparatus that was parked outside the garage bays. After about an hour the collector asked for a meeting with Fire Chief Paul Perrotti and First Selectman Tom Gormley, offering to buy the entire fleet of "beautifully preserved antiques."
The collector was aghast when Perrotti and Gormley told him that this apparatus was Middlebury's current fleet and not an antique collection.
IT's called "freedom of speech!"
looks like jokes are OK, based on the above...
Just to be clear, I'm saying that Doctor Eddie St. John is a joke.
The antique fire apparatus situation is not a joke.
Actually the antique fire apparatus situation IS a joke. A sick one. While we haggle Waterbury, with all thier financial trouble, finds a way to replace half of it's fleet over 3 years. Un-believable.
well then go live in Waterbury and be a firemen there if its so great.
To all the Pat DeAngelis-Ed St. John fans out there, think about this: Pat, et al. petitioned EVERY question on the call of the Town Meeting, thus taking the risk that you all will have to pay the entire remaining balance of your real estate property taxes effective back to Nov. 1st. This means that if you have a mortgage with an escrow, you will most likely NOT have enough money to pay the taxes. So, your bank/mortgage company will be looking to you to make up the shortfall. This is a really nice Christmas gift from Pat and the gang, especially during these difficult financial times, as Pat keeps reminding us all. Also, it means that if the questions about the Terex and dump truck fail, the town will have to go buy back those two items from the people who purchased them from us. It also means we'll have to go get those 3 police cars back from Watebury, which, by the way, they have been using and adding mileage to, making them worth even less than when we made the trade. And, as far as Washington Drive is concerned, if we don't ratify that contract, it is fairly certain that the attornies for the developer will claim that the contract Ed signed is invalid, and therefore unenforceable, leaving the town with virtually no recourse to collect even a portion of the $935,000. The fire truck purchase is tax-neutral, meaning no increse in your taxes. Pat admits right on his website that it's not about the firetruck, it's about Paul Perrotti. Here's the quote, lifted right off the "MoneyPit": "Perrotti still doesn't get it. It's not about a
fire engine , it's about HIM". So, I say this: If you want control of your town back, and want the continual nonsense to stop, send a message tomorrow. Vote "yes" across the board. Let Pat and his associates know just what you think of his absurd attempts to disrupt the duly elected government of our town from trying to conduct the business of running our town.
They're too stupid to pick and choose on the ballot. If Deangelis and Eddie and Elaine say VOTE NO then the lemmings will vote NO.
Deangelis and his comrades are totally responsible for causing unnecessary chaos in Middlebury.
They should be held accountable for this.
Hey Matt!
Hey Jaimie!
Hey Marj!
How about a little investigative reporting on the chaos in Middlebury and who caused it?
We know you read this blog. Get off your butts and report on this!
It's not about a fire engine.
It's about Doctor Edward B. St. John thinking that he can get back into power.
He's trying to stick it to his enemies. Therefore he's trying to unseat Perrotti and he's trying to make Gormley look like a dunce. Eddie submitted a dozen FOIs into the selectmans office. This has caused additional chaos for Gormley and antagonized everybody.
It's not about a fire engine. It's all about the return of Ed St. John. And this time folks, he's really unleashed his evil.
Elaine is out there spreading disinformation. Why? She won't be running in 2009 with Bill Stowell. Her number is up no matter how things shake out. If she gets caught spreading distortions she might end up in trouble. She's a public official, not a self-important elderly blogger.
Only the naysayers are going to the polls today. I hope DeAngelis and St. John are proud of themselves. What did they prove by this? They proved that they can waste the time and money of everybody in Middlebury. It makes me sick.
Deangelis has really made a name for himself in this town. At the Lion's club turkey dinner last evening people freely gave their opinion of Deangelis. The most common description was "scumbag". I couldn't agree more.
Not very many naysayers at that dinner, by the way. All I saw was fine working citizens of Middlebury. The kool-aid bunch are afraid to come out in public. Why is that?
Because cockroaches don't like the light...
