Has Pattie Forgotten?

Whatever happened to his big lawsuit where he sued the selectmen, the attorneys, and the planning and zoning members?

UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT
DISTRICT OF CONNECTICUT

PATRICK DEANGELIS

-- versus --

EDWARD B. ST.JOHN,
in his individual and official capacities,

ELAINE M.R. STROBEL,
in her individual and official capacities,

HALOLD S. LYNCH, JR.
in his individual and official capacities.

TERRY SMITH in his individual and official capacities.

WILLIAM J. STOWELL in his individual and official capacities,

ERIKA CARRINGTON in her individual and official capacities,

JAMES P. JOLLY in his individual and official capacities,

JAMES G. CROCICCHIA in his individual and official capacities,

MELINDA D. BURBANK in her individual and official capacities,

THOMAS E. PROULX in his individual and official capacities,

STEPHEN L. SAVARESE in his individual and official capacities,

DANA D’ANGELO in her individual and official capacities

( lots of legal stuff omitted )

17. At a duly constituted Town Meeting in 1996 in Middlebury CT action was taken and it
was legally voted that “the Town of Middlebury is the owner of a certain piece or parcel of land consisting of approximately 35 acres, which land is a portion of a larger piece or parcel acquired by the Town and designated for senior housing …WHEREAS the town has
previously sold to the Middlebury Senior Housing Associates, Inc. a contiguous parcel which is currently being developed as senior housing".

18. At the 1996 Town meeting it was then voted to authorize the selling of the 35 acre parcel of land for “not less” than 1.2 million dollars so that the land could be developed for
“senior housing”.

19. The contiguous parcel of land previously mentioned as being sold was used for the
building of 72 units of Senior Housing. Said Senior Housing was intended and eventually sold to those individuals who had reached a minimum 62 years of age. Therefore it was reasonable to assume at the time of the said 1996 vote that:

a. the 35 acre parcel being authorized for sale for senior housing would abide by the age
62 definition of “senior” held at the first sale of land (1995)and which resulted in the construction of 71 units of senior, age 62, housing units at the site,
b. the selling price was determined by current market forces in effect at the time, i.e., that while the minimum” price was fixed at “not less than 1.2 million” no agreement nor vote
taken stipulated that the minimum price was forever fixed at 1996 market levels.

20. When 6 (six) years later in 2002 the Selectmen of the Town of Middlebury acting
under of color of law agreed to sell the remaining acreage of the land outside the intent of the 1996 meeting relative to the meaning of senior housing they, the Selectmen, acting under color of law furthermore agreed to sell the land for the price established six (6) years
previous to the signing of the contract in 2002 in spite of the rise in real estate values, in
spite of the land now being served by sewer, water and gas lines.

21. The said contract stipulated that land use approvals must be secured before the said
transaction could be consummated. The Selectman, then named the Buyer as the agent for the land still owned by the town EVEN THOUGH (emphasis added) at the 1996 Town Meeting it was clearly stipulated that it was the Town alone that had the authority to market the land.

Ah yes. That was yesterday. Pattie was legitimately focused on Straw Pond back then.

Today Pattie is totally focused on $6 fire call incentives.

The biggest problem today is the MVFD spending its own money on fast initial response vehicles.

Yes, this is the new definition of corruption in Middlebury. Straw Pond doesn't matter any more. Pattie and Eddie will issue FOI after FOI to get to the bottom of this new definition of corruption.

We don't need legal terminology any more. Hell no. Pattie would rather use the language of middle school: "Dumb Ass", "Half Chief", "Bone head", "Dunce".

I suppose he's playing to his true audience, the Ignoramuses of Middlebury.

Wake up Middlebury!

Thank you Time Machine.

It should be obvious to everyone that Pat Deangelis has completely sold out and is taking his orders directly from Edward B. St. John.

Deangelis would certainly have attacked St. John back in 2005 if he had found out about the Washington Drive affair. There would have been huge purple headlines. $950,000 of town time and materials going to a developer of cluster housing.

Today, as you say, Deangelis is focused totally on the MVFD and on any rookie slip ups that Gormley makes. But Gormley and the MVFD are not committing crimes. There is no corruption.

What we have is the former First Selectman on a fit of revenge. Paul Perrotti made St. John look bad by exposing his lack of PhD. Gormley never asked St. John for advice upon becoming First Selectman. Those apparently are unforgiveable sins that must be punished harshly.

The only unanswered question is why Deangelis is so obviously helping St. John?

Well, I think the rumours around town explain Pat's sudden allegiance to EStJ. I find it hard to believe that a man wh was in arrears on his town, State, and Federal taxes suddenly came into a whole pile of money to take care of all his issues. Which leads me to another pressing question, one which Pat dares not raise? Why does the Town of Middlebury not seize properties that are so far in arrears? No knock on our top-notch Tax Collectors office (meant in absolute sincerity), but Jean said herself a month or so ago in The Voices that the town has no mechanism in place to seize and sell properties. Too bad that wasn't in place just a couple of years ago. Maybe EStJ could have added more land to the Straw Pond property sale.

Don’t take your eyes off Elaine Strobel.

When you read this letter posted on OURMONEYPIT you’ll see that she’s gone over to the dark side. Savarese tells Elaine that he’s redacted some of the hard copy documents given to her because she leaked earlier ones to Pat Deangelis.

Read this portion:

To: Mrs. Elaine Strobel, Selectmen
Town of Middlebury P.O. Box 392 Middlebury, CT 06762

Re: Review of Town Attorney Legal fees - Redacted Billing
Statements

Dear Selectmen Strobel:

Please accept this letter as a partial response to the stated concerns that you broached, without prior discussion with me, in a letter dated December 23, 2008, that you forwarded to me via the Office of the Selectmen on December 24, 2008, and elected to have copied to the Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance and Town's "Accounting Department". As of this writing, your letter has been posted to Mr. Pat DeAngelis' blog and it has become the subject of local news in an article written by Mr. Matthew O'Rourke of the Waterbury Republican-American published on New Year's Day. I would appreciate that when you have any issues that in your official capacity as a Selectmen of the Town of Middlebury you wish to address to me related to my actions as Town Counsel, or regarding the administrative functions of the Town of Middlebury as they may relate to the duties of Town Counsel, you first discuss the matter privately with me or in an Executive Session of the Board of Selectmen.

Elaine cannot be trusted as Selectman. She’s a kool-aid drinker. I don’t know if she’s working with Eddie or if she’s a lone wolf zombie.

Can you imagine Elaine leaking then-Attorney Jim Smith’s legal documents back in 2005?

Neither can I. Elaine was loyal to Eddie back then.

Elaine is only loyal to Elaine today.

Everybody – watch your back!

I'm waiting!

What happened to the Pat Deangelis lawsuit where he's suing everybody involved with Straw Pond???

Is it in litigation?

Did he actually file it, or is it a bunch of smoke?

Does anybody know?

Elsewhere on this blog an anonymous commenter stated that this blog wasn't accomplishing anything and that Jim Redway should shut it down.

I disagree.

Although it is useless to argue with the lying Deangelis, it can be useful to provide a point by point rebuttal of the lies as they appear so that readers can find the truth.

I'd be the first person to admit that Deangelis served a useful purpose back in 2005 when he exposed the lies of Edward B. St. John and the inbreeding of the Town Boards and the Republican Town Committee. That was useful information and I was willing to overlook the caustic nature of the Deangelis rhetoric.

But today there is nothing honest about Deangelis. Every single thing is a distortion in one way or another. Besides that, the cowardly Deangelis is saying things on his web site that he would never say face to face with the people involved.

It is blatantly obvious that Deangelis is trying to get the focus off of St. John's past misdeeds. Those misdeeds will not go away, they are a dark stain on Middlebury and will be part of our history forever.

Deangelis fails to offer any concrete suggestions for our economic problems. Other people in Middlebury are actually doing something, but Deangelis can only taunt those dedicated people with idiotic name calling and cursing.

Who listens to Deangelis? That is a good question. There is no truth. There is no humor. Anyone who believes his nonsense must be an ignoramus.

The award for stupidest thing that Deangelis said so far is...

Deangelis has argued that the First Selectman should "rubber stamp" anyone recommended to a appointed or elected position from the Republican or Democratic town committees.

Yeah. That's a good way to assure that politics and favoritism and cronyism is being kept out of Middlebury.

What a dumb ass.
