Gets It Wrong On FD Fuel Tank

“In fact why do we need to spend $ 11,000.00 for a fuel tank at the

firehouse when for the last 20 years they have filled up at the tank at

public works?”

Mr. DeAngelis gets it wrong again. The engines do not fill up at the Town Yard, but rather from an existing fuel tank at Fire HQ. It has nothing to do where the engines fill up.

The Town will be paying $11,000 to install a fuel tank at the firehouse.  Why?  Did you know that the Firehouse is heated not with home heating oil but rather premium diesel oil.  The same high-quality diesel, formulated to power fire apparatus is being wasted heating the building. With the new tank the building will then be heated with home heating oil as it should be.

The installation of a new tank will save the taxpayers approximately $4,500 a year at the current price of the fuel.  The tank will pay for itself in less than three years, and the Town will then realize a savings thereafter.
