Tom Gormley said that they " can't control legal costs"
Sure they can. Was there a need to hire Savarese, Lionhardt,
et. al when all Perrotti had to do was follow the law? Well, was
there? Of course not, Gormley should have ordered the dept
head to follow the law just as he should have ordered him to stop
taking pictures down from public buildings. Maybe there is some
testosterone available at the health dept.
There would not be a Fire Department lawyer at all if it was not for Mr. St. John. The lawyer was hired because Mr. St. John questioned whether or not the MVFD Ambulance and personnel had insurance and who was responsible for it.
The MVFD lawyer is not paid out of taxpayer money, but the lawyers Mr. St. John hired sure were. How much did that all cost the taxpayer?
What about the $80,000 in legal costs associated with Mr. DeAngelis’s Straw Pond? I guess spending taxpayer money on lawyers is only acceptable if it concerns Straw Pond.
As far as the FOIs, the MVFD has followed the law to the letter, but Mr. St. John and Mr. DeAngelis are apparently not interested in what the law really says. They keep following the same old political agenda.
