But I remember. Town Hall was totally out of control after 22 years of Doctor St. John. Everybody was beholden to him. Every board and commission was a rubber stamp, except maybe the Conservation Commission - which put a stake in the heart of Straw Pond. Hey Pat, did you forget who was the chairman of the Conservation Commission? I'll remind you. It was Tom Gormley.
You should kiss Tom Gormley's ass Pat. He is a fine citizen, but you have now turned on him and offer no help at all. You are disgusting.
Doctor St. John raised taxes year after year and allowed developers to run rampant through Middlebury. Campaign 2005 went after him on this issue.
Now we're paying the price for Doctor St. John's mess. All those homes and all that construction and all those school children are Doctor St. John's legacy - but you are going after Gormley.
Wake up! Gormley inherited this mess. He also inherited Keli Bollard's raiding of the rainy day fund for last year. You felt good last year as you ate the seed corn but this year the cookie jar is empty. You should be praising Gormley for lowering the town side by 3%. But no, you have abandoned him.
What hypnotic hold does Doctor St. John have over you? You cannot possibly want him back in these economic times. St. John cannot solve anything.
And to the genius who said that Gormley allowed Brookside. No. Gormley had nothing to do with P&Z. It was Stowell and Carrington and Calabrese who did that - all of them Doctor St. John's lap dogs. Gormley and the Conservation Commission were strongly negative about Brookside. You don't need a FOI to read the minutes. Go back to the Town Clerk's office and do some reading. Read the selectmans minutes too - it was Strobel and St. John who gave us this mess, NOT Gormley.
