Hydrants Finally Out Of MVFD Budget

“But of course both pots go to the Fire Dept so that the real cost

of the Dept is well over $ 300,000 NOT the $ 214,000.00 the

Fianace Bd would have you think.”

Not true. Former First Selectman Ed St. John  put the hydrants in the MVFD budget to make the PW budget look smaller.  Although MVFD uses the hydrants it is a PW function.  NFPA has taken hydrant testing out of its standard.

The cost of creating and maintaining hydrants should never have been put into the MVFD budget in the first place, so it is good that it has finally been moved.

The MVFD budget is $214,000.  They are one of the largest organizations in Town with the smallest budget.
