The One Million Dollar Firemen

As far as the Fire Dept is concerned it is just plain absurd not to have oversight over a million dollar department. Even more so when the Chief refuses to comply with reasonable requests for full disclosure.

There he goes again, singing the same old tired song.  Check the budget again Mr. DeAngelis. - $214,448.00, not 1 million.  As for MVFD INC. your figure is completely incorrect.  Just because a large amount of money was once run through a tax return, does not mean that is what is in the bank or ever at the MVFD’s disposal.  Again, please reference:

Mr. DeAngelis can keep repeating the same old mantra hoping people will believe it, but no matter how many times he says it, the result is the same.  It is just not true.  His numbers actually keep increasing. For months it was $800,000.00.  Now we are up over 1 million.

Well, you can take $170,000 or so off your total, because the MVFD has ordered a new ambulance.  That is $170,000.00 that will NOT have to come out of taxpayers pockets.  The ambulance fund has been successful, and the Taxpayers of Middlebury will benefit.  Mr. DeAngelis should appreciate that, being a taxpayer in Town.

The Fire Commission is dead.  The voters overwhelmingly rejected it last Fall, and they did that for one reason, because they trust the MVFD. We are the ones who will come and help them.  We have earned their trust.

Mr. St. John promised Tom Gormley he would ride off into the sunset when he left office.  He broke his promise to Tom, and Mr. DeAngelis is helping him break it. Tell that to those who once rallied behind Mr. DeAngelis regarding Straw Pond. Has fighting Mr. St. John’s battle hurt his own?
